Horry Co. Police say Green Sea shooting death was self-defense

CONWAY (WBTW) – Horry County Police said the gunman in a deadly shooting last week will not be charged with a crime after the investigation determined he shot the other person out of self-defense.

Kendale Jermain Herring, 29, of Green Sea was killed, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick.

Horry County Police said the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday at a home on Olive Drive, not far from S.C. Highway 9.

The investigation said the 22-year-old who shot him was acting out of self-defense, and so he will not be charged.

Someone else at the scene of the shooting is charged with unlawfully possessing a gun. 26-year-old Brian Gaddy of Loris was arrested and booked at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
