J. Reuben officer passes after suffering multiple strokes

Officer Wanda Johnson-Jenkins died the evening of November 11 at MUSC.

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – A long-time officer with the Horry County Sheriff’s Office died after suffering several strokes resulting from blood clots.

According to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office, Officer Wanda Johnson-Jenkins died the evening of November 11 at MUSC. Jenkins had experienced some health problems with her foot and infection set in. This infection caused blood clots that ultimately caused Jenkins to have several strokes, the post details.

The post goes on to say that Jenkins was not only a great asset to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, but those that knew her knew that she was also a great person. Officer Wanda Johnson-Jenkins joined the J. Reuben Long Detention Center staff in 1998 and was currently serving in Photo ID. Jenkins also worked part-time at Shoreline Behavioral Health Center where she was a caregiver to the clients.

Funeral services were held November 15, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home.
