Myrtle Beach girls advance to CresCom semifinals

MYRTLE BEACH – Nia Sumpter scored 17 points as Myrtle Beach outlasted Archer (Ga.) 51-45 Saturday to advance to the CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational semifinals.

Keocia Walker added 14 for the Seahawks (11-0), who trailed by 15 early in the second half. Kiana Adderton’s jumper with 1:37 left put Myrtle Beach up for good in a game that featured seven lead changes and two ties in the final 5:36.

The Seahawks will face Lake Highland (Fla.) in the semifinals Monday at 6:45 p.m.

Norcross (Ga.) 66, St. James 37

Kimmie Hotzelt sparked a 13-3 run late, but St. James couldn’t overcome a big deficit as the Sharks fell to Norcross 66-37.

Hotzelt scored a team-high 15. The Sharks fell to 0-2 in the tournament. They play again Monday at 10 a.m. against Millbrook (N.C.).
