COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) –The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has provided another update on a female polar bear cub who is in the facility’s animal hospital.
The cub, who was born in November but abandoned after the mother stopped caring for her, weighs almost 7 pounds. She is 52 days old as of Dec. 31 and is teething – zoo staff give her some human teething rings to ease the pain of her pearly whites pushing through.
She is on a formula made with kitten milk replacement and some herring oil, according to the hospital staffer featured in the video. She’s being fed every four hours.
The little bear does not yet have a name.
