NWS issues flood warning for the Waccamaw River and Little Pee Dee River

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW)- The National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina has issued a Flood Warning for the Waccamaw River in Conway until further notice, according to a weather advisory.

The latest advisory  from the NWS on Sunday at 9:15 am states the stage was at 11.2 feet. Flood stage is 11.0 feet. The advisory says minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. The river will continue rising to near 11.4 feet by tomorrow morning then begin falling.

Forecasters says water will begin to cause minor flooding of yards and a few roads in the Lees Landing, Pitch Landing, Savannah Bluff, and Riverfront South communities with overflow of vast uninhabited swamp and natural boat landings will occur.

The NWS has also issued a Flood Warning for The Little Pee Dee At Galivants Ferry until further notice.

At 10:00 AM Sunday the stage was 10.8 feet and Flood stage is 9.0 feet.The advisory says minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. The river will continue rising to near 10.9 feet by this evening.

The NWS also reports Flood waters will continue to rise in the Fork Retch community located near Nichols. Flood waters will begin to affect some homes at Fork Retch. Swampland flooding will increase.
