Williamsburg officers arrest suspect in New Year’s Day shooting

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office has located and charged the suspect in a shooting incident that happened early in the morning on New Year’s Day.

According to Investigator Alex Edwards, officers named Darnell Jamar Epps as a shooting suspect when deputies were called to the Huddle House. On January 1 just after 5:00 a.m., deputies responded to a shooting incident that occurred at the Huddle House on 1611 North Longstreet Street in Kingstree.

According to Investigators, an altercation occurred inside and then continued into the parking lot where gun shots were fired. The suspect, Darnell Jamar Epps, 23, of Kingstree, fled the scene on foot armed with a weapon. No one was shot during this incident.

The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office arrested Epps Monday in connection with this incident. He is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, illegal possession of a pistol, possession of a stolen pistol, assault and battery third degree, and malicious injury to property value $2,000 or less.
