Chick-fil-A says out with the cole slaw, in with kale

(WBTW) – Chick-fil-A customers are lamenting the loss of a favorite side item from the restaurant’s menu, as the popular quick service food chain adds a new Superfood Salad in place of the classic cole slaw.

Chick-fil-A announced on its website that the “good times we’ve shared” with cole slaw are coming to an end January 18, when theSuperfood-Salad restaurant removes the item for good from its menu of side items.

In its place, Chick-fil-A welcomes a new Superfood Salad, described as “Chopped Broccolini and kale blend, tossed in a sweet and tangy maple vinaigrette dressing and topped with flavorful dried sour cherries. Served with our roasted nut blend.”

In its farewell to cole slaw, Chick-fil-A writes:

To the Side that was never just a side item, here’s to the good times we’ve shared.

Some of us will remember you as the perfect topping to our original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich. Some of us will reflect on the picnics we’ve shared or the combo meals we’ve savored. All in all it was a beautiful 49 years, Cole Slaw.

When you take your final bow January 18th, you will be gone but never forgotten.

To all the cabbage lovers out there, we feel you. To make the loss a little easier to bear, we’re releasing, for the first time, the original recipe to make at home…even on Sunday.
