Myrtle Beach woman jailed when infant tests positive for cocaine

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A Myrtle Beach woman is behind bars after her newborn baby tested positive for cocaine, opiates and cannabinoids in November.

An incident report from Horry County Police details how a Department of Social Services employee reported child abuse by Alyssa Cheyenne Jackson, 25, of Myrtle Beach, when she and her infant tested positive for multiple drugs on November 11 and 12 at Conway Medical Center.

The report states that Jackson gave birth to the child, who tested positive for cocaine, opiates and cannabinoids, while Jackson tested positive for cocaine and opiates. The infant was placed in the care of relatives, according to the report.

Jackson was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. and was released nearly nine hours later on a $2,500 bond. She is charged with one count of unlawful neglect of a child.
