Police look to ID man accused in Florence ATM robberies

FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – The Florence Police Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying a man they say attempted to rob at least three people at a bank ATM in Florence in December and January.

According to Major Carlos Raines, the thief’s picture was captured on the ATM surveillance camera. The suspect is accused in three armed robberies or attempted armed robberies that occurred December 29 and 31 and January 4. The man reportedly indicated he had a gun by holding his hand under his jacket in the December robberies, but only made off with the victim’s money in one of the crimes.

In the most recent attempted armed robbery on January 4, Major Raines says the suspect did show a gun but the victim was able to deposit all cash before the suspect could take it. All three robberies occurred at the outside ATM at South State Bank in the 200 block of South Irby Street in Florence.

Anyone with information to help identify the suspect is asked to call Florence Police at 843-665-3191.
