MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A Myrtle Beach woman is behind bars after she admitted to the Department of Social Services that she used drugs during the third trimester of her pregnancy, according to a police report.
Horry County Police document that Melissa Bimonte, 24, of Myrtle Beach, was drug tested after giving birth on December 24 at the Medical University of South Carolina. Bimonte tested positive for heroin the day her child was born, according to the police report.
In addition, Bimonte was given a drug screen during her third trimester of pregnancy on November 20. The expectant mother tested positive for heroin, morphine, and codeine and admitted to a case worker with DSS that she used drugs during her pregnancy, the report documents.
Bimonte is charged with one count of unlawful neglect of a child and was booked into J. Reuben Detention Center Thursday morning at 8:19 a.m. and is currently being held on a $25,000 bond.
