Robbery motive in Marion murder of man in car

MARION, SC (WBTW) – Marion Police Chief Dewayne Tennie says officers have made a second arrest in the murder of a 58-year-old man killed while sitting in his car Sunday night.

Chief Tennie says April Johnson, 32, of Marion, is the second suspected killer arrested in the death of Liston Phillips, 58. Phillips was shot and killed just after midnight on Sunday while he sat inside a car on Jones Avenue.

Johnson is charged with murder. Aaron Brown, 24, was arrested Tuesday and has also been charged with murder in the crime. The motive for the murder was robbery, Chief Tennie confirms.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is helping to investigate the crime.
