MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The annual gun show kicked off at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center Saturday, and thousands of people attended day one of the event.
The promoter for the Myrtle Beach Gun Show says around 300 vendors filled 450 tables with all sorts of guns, knives, and accessories.
The most popular items were personal defense hand guns and AR15 rifles.
Hand guns were a purchase especially popular for the as more women turn to guns for protection
“I think for the women popultation its one of the largest populations for gun purchasers. All you have to do is walk down and see any of these guys that have guns for sale and just take a look the women are sitting down, the women are the ones buying,” said Melissa Wood, vendor at Fired Up Jewelry.
The promoter says business was especially busy this year with pending plans for tighter gun laws from Washington.
“I feel the government has really overreached what they’re trying to do with respect to gun ownership, trying to squash the second amendment. And I think this is a perfect example of people exercising their second amendment rights to come to a gun and swap, buy and sell firearms as their allowed to do,” said promoter Mike Kent.
Purrchases are subject to the same laws as buying a gun at a store.
The gun show will continue Sunday from 10am until 4pm.
Admission is $8 dollars for adults and children 12 and under are free.
