PRINCEVILLE, N.C.  — Authorities are searching for a man who vanished in the Tar River near Princeville on Sunday afternoon.

WNCT reported that the man who disappeared is a volunteer firefighter in Edgecombe County.

The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 4:10 p.m. about a possible drowning at Shiloh Landing on Highway 258 North in Princeville, said Edgecombe County Sheriff James L. Knight.
