Trump ahead in Florida, close contest in Ohio

WASHINGTON (MEDIA GENERAL) – Voters in five states will head to the polls on Tuesday and could set GOP front runner Donald Trump on an unstoppable path to the Republican nomination.

Florida, North Carolina, Illinois, Missouri, and Ohio will vote in both Democratic and Republican primaries. The latest polls indicate Mr. Trump will prevail over Florida Senator Marco Rubio, the state Mr. Rubio represents, in a near two to one lead. The latest polls indicate Trump could be declared the winner within minutes of the polls closing.

In Ohio, where polls show a close contest between Donald Trump and current Governor John Kasich, the race appears to be neck and neck. The latest survey indicates Gov. Kasich could pull out a close win and spent most of Monday addressing crowds in the Buckeye state. The 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney, who has yet to endorse any candidate, campaigned with Gov. Kasich in an effort to stop the Trump momentum.
