Conway man jailed on 20 charges related to child pornography

Compton was arrested Tuesday and charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor second degree, and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor third degree.

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A Conway man is behind bars after South Carolina Law Enforcement agents arrested him for reportedly sending child pornography through a file sharing system.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson says agents arrested David Wynn Compton, 55, of Conway, on 20 charges connected to sexual exploitation of minors.  Horry County Police assisted SLED, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, in making the arrest.

Investigators say Compton was involved in sending child pornography via file sharing. Computer-related items were seized for forensic examination, according to Attorney General Alan Wilson.

Compton was arrested Tuesday and charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor second degree, and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor third degree. All charges are felony offences each punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
