RACEPATH, SC – Once known as the Racepath Community Association, in 1994 Phoenix Renaissance was incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and expanded its outreach beyond the Racepath Community to all low-income families throughout Horry County, SC.
The purpose of Phoenix Renaissance, Inc. is to develop, promote and sponsor alternatives to the abuse of drugs and the use of violence, by providing programs for local community improvement, such as education, recreation, counseling, housing rehabilitation, career training, creative arts, child development, and family services.
Phoenix Renaissance Inc. is led by Rev. William A. Gause, President of an all-volunteer Board of nine Directors. For 37 years it has operated its programs in a 40 year-old 1,200 sq. ft. mobile home provided by and supported through Horry County. Phoenix Renaissance’s programs consist of a summer day camp, afterschool program, holiday thanksgiving community dinner and Christmas giving programs.
Over the years, Phoenix Renaissance Inc. has developed valuable partnerships with many community service organizations, public and private representatives, and local foundations. It is funded through private and corporate donations, local foundations, Horry County grants, and its own fundraisers and program income.
It’s goal for the future is to build a new larger, permanent facility that will serve its current programs and allow Phoenix Renaissance Inc. to provide additional services such as a wellness clinic, food pantry, abuse rehab services and senior programming.
Phoenix Renaissance is holding a fundraiser on April 9th, 11am – 7pm at 538 Robert Grissom Pkwy. (corner of Shanna Dora & Grissom Parkway, one block south of Hwy. 501) $8 per meal for pulled pork, beans, coleslaw, bun and drink. Dine in, carry out or delivery for 7 meals or more. All proceeds will benefit the Summer Camp and the New Building Fund.
