Highway Patrol Identifies Suspect in Brunswick/New Hanover Pursuit

RALEIGH, N.C. (WBTW)- The North Carolina Highway Patrol charged a man in connection to a deadly high-speed chase.

According to the Highway Patrol, troopers tried to stop 26-year-old Eduardo Patrick of Liberty while we was driving on U.S. 74 in Brunswick County, as they say he was driving 79 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Troopers say he ignored them, and kept driving. Troopers say Patrick ignored the red light at Kerr Avenue and U.S. 177, and hit a 2007 Honda motorcycle that was driving through the intersection.

A trooper performed a precision immobilization technique, and ended the chase, taking Patrick into custody.

The driver of the motorcycle, 38-year-old Shaun R.J. Murdock of Wilmington died as a result of his injuries.

Eduardo Patrick is charged with speeding, reckless driving, felony hit and run, felony speed to elude arrest, and misdemeanor death by vehicle.
