ST. LOUIS (MEDIA GENERAL) – On Tuesday, Anheuser-Busch announced it is taking its summer branding campaign to new starred-and-striped heights. The brewer is temporarily changing the name of Budweiser lager to “America,” first reported by Fast Company.
The beer’s iconic label is getting plenty of tweaks, too. With America written in recognizable Budweiser script, the brewer also added patriotic touches to the label, including “E Pluribus Unum” in place of “King of Beers,” and adding “Liberty & Justice For All” in place of “Anheuser-Busch, Inc.”
The new cans and bottles are expected to hit shelves nationwide May 23 and stay there through the November elections, for what Budweiser vice president Ricardo Marques is calling the “most patriotic summer this generation has ever seen.”
“Budweiser has always strived to embody America in a bottle, and we’re honored to salute this great nation where our beer has been passionately brewed for the past 140 years,” Marques said in a news release.
