65-year-old woman died from stab wounds inside Socastee laundromat

SOCASTEE, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police detectives are investigating a suspicious death at a Socastee laundromat Friday morning.

According to Lt TJ Mueller, the owner of the Maytag Laundry Mat on Socastee Boulevard called police around 8 a.m. after finding a dead person inside the business. Captain Jason Freer said a woman was found dead and her Kia mini-van was missing from the parking lot.

Horry County Deputy Coroner identified the victim as 65-year-old Wanda Wohnig of the Myrtle Beach area. An autopsy is scheduled for late Friday afternoon. The coroner said Whonig died from stab wounds that caused mass hemorrhage.

A vehicle of interest in the case, a gray 2005 Kia Sedona van, was located by police at an undisclosed location around 2 p.m.

Horry County Police identified Jon Paul Joseph Marston, of Myrtle Beach, as a suspect in the case. Police arrested and charged him with murder, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
