Man robs, stabs Socastee laundromat employee multiple times, warrants say

SOCASTEE, SC (WBTW) – New details have been released in the murder of a woman at a Socastee laundromat.

According to arrest warrants released Monday, Jon Paul Joseph Marston, 31, used a knife to rob and murder 65-year-old Wanda Wohnig Friday morning at a laundromat on Socastee Boulevard.

Horry County Police said the owner of the Maytag Laundromat called police around 8 a.m. after finding his employee dead inside the business. Captain Jason Freer said a woman was found dead and her Kia mini-van was missing from the parking lot.

The coroner’s office said Whonig died from multiple stab wounds that caused mass hemorrhage.

Police arrested and charged Marston with murder, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
