2 men found dead in Socastee parking lot from gunshot wounds

SOCASTEE, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police detectives are investigating the discovery of two bodies found in a parking lot off Socastee Boulevard.

On Tuesday Horry County Coroner Darris Fowler identified the men as 31-year-old Rafael Aguilar and 33-year-old Carmelo Marmolejo-Calixto.  Both died from gun shot to vital organs with mass hemorage.

Lt. Raul Denis said the victims were found about 7 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of Socastee Plaza on SC 707.

One was found on the pavement near a van while the second was found slumped in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Deputy Coroner Darris G Fowler said both victims were from Myrtle Beach.

This is the same area where a woman was found dead inside a laundromat in early June.
