Myrtle Beach Police arrest man for Hotel Blue parking lot robbery

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Police arrested a suspect Thursday afternoon in connection to an earlier armed robbery at Hotel Blue.

The two victims say they bought what they thought was marijuana from a guy wearing dark clothing in a black compact car before the driver of the car pulled a gun on them and demanded their money.

Witnesses say they saw a man in dark clothing running through the parking garage with a black bag being chased by one of the victims before the suspect jumped over the concrete wall of the parking garage and escaped.

The two victims were not staying at Hotel Blue so officers gave them citations for trespassing and loitering for harmful purposes.

Police arrested Johnny Markell, 24, on charges of  armed robbery, kidnapping, possession of weapon during violent crime, and financial fraud on North Oak Street Thursday afternoon.
