Church pastor killed by lightning strike near Mt. Mitchell State Park

DALLAS, NC  – A motorcyclist was reportedly killed when he was struck by lightning while riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Mount Mitchell State Park.

Scott Pasour of Dallas, west of Charlotte, was pulling on rain gear with two other motorcyclists when the bolt struck on Saturday according to two media reports.

WBTV-TV reports Pasour was a pastor at Venture Church in Dallas and had been a member of the church for 14 years.

“His wife called. As soon as I saw her name, I knew something happened,” said Austin Rammell, the lead pastor at Venture Church to WBTV.

“It’s heartbreaking.”

Pasour leaves behind his wife, two children and three grandchildren according to the TV station. He was the owner of an auto repair shop.
