Red Sox beat Pelicans 5-1 to even series

SALEM, Va. – Trey Ball gave up one run on just three hits over 5 2/3 innings as Salem beat Myrtle Beach 5-1 to even the Southern Division Championship Series at one game apiece.

The Red Sox will host the deciding game of the series Friday at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the Mills Cup Championship Series.

Rafael Devers drove in three to lead Salem at the plate. David Bote drove in the only run for the Pelicans, who are seeking their third consecutive appearance in the Carolina League’s title series.
