GOLDSBORO, N.C. – A 3-year-old was found in the backseat of a vehicle in Goldsboro while the child’s parents were passed out from a drug overdose, police said.

Police said it happened around 7 a.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the McDonald’s on Wayne Memorial Drive.

Officers said when they were called to investigate a suspicious car, they found two people passed out from an apparent drug overdose.

Police said they found several open packages of what appeared to be heroin and several syringes inside car.

Police said the suspects’ 3-year-old child was also inside the car at the time and didn’t appear to have any injuries.

However, the child was taken to Wayne Memorial for evaluation.

The two suspects were identified as Steven and Christine McCullen.

Both subjects face multiple charges for drug possession and child abuse.
