Coroner identifies Mullins man dead after vehicle crashes into tree, bursts into flames


CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fiery crash in Horry County that left one person dead.

According to Cpl. Sonny Collins, the crash happened around 6 a.m. Monday on SC 917 near the Marion County line.

Collins said the driver of the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The car then burst into flames, Collins said.

According to the coroner, there was only one person in the car and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple traumatic injuries.

Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick identified the victim as 22-year-old Kolyn Ridge Johnson from Mullins Tuesday.
