FLORENCE – Wilson defensive end Xavier Thomas is the No. 1 junior football player in the nation according to ESPN, and right now it appears he’ll keep his talents in South Carolina.

Thomas, who has offers from some of the nation’s top programs, tells News13 that he ‘most likely’ will stay in state for college. South Carolina and Clemson are among his offers. He has visited the Gamecocks and plans to visit the Tigers for the Louisville game.

Thomas isn’t closing the door on other options yet, and he’s still only halfway through his junior season, but things look good for both South Carolina and Clemson at this point.

“I think it will most likely be an in-state choice,” Thomas said. “But I haven’t really figured it out yet. I’m just taking it slowly right now.”
