CCU to host ACC women’s basketball tournament

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – On Wednesday, Coastal Carolina University announced that they will be hosting the 2017 ACC women’s basketball tournament.

According to the university, the tournament will be held March 1-5 at the HTC Center in Conway.

Wednesday’s announcement concludes the relocation of all of the 2016-17 championships that were originally scheduled to be played in North Carolina.

This year’s ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament will feature all 15 league teams. Play opens with three first-round games on Wednesday, March 1, and concludes with the championship game on Sunday, March 5.
The first three days of the tournament (first round, second round and quarterfinals) are set to be carried by the ACC Network. Saturday afternoon’s semifinal games (noon and 2:30 p.m.) will be carried by ESPNU, with Sunday’s 1 p.m. championship game scheduled to air on ESPN2.

“We’re thrilled to have the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament coming to the Myrtle Beach area in 2017. This event presents a tremendous opportunity for the entire Grand Strand, as it provides a much-needed boost to our local economy during a slow time, solidifies the Myrtle Beach area as a great sports tourism destination and attracts regional and national publicity. We are deeply indebted to Coastal Carolina University for stepping forward to host this event, helping to elevate our national appeal as a thriving contender for high-profile sporting events,” Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce said.
