Shelters and extra police patrol set-up for evacuated Socastee residents

SOCASTEE, S.C. (WBTW)- Several residents who live in the Socastee area near the Intracoastal Waterway are dealing with rising water and many now have to leave their homes.

Horry County Emergency Management leaders announced Sunday a shelter was set for them at the Church of Christ Grand Strand located on Glenns Bay Road in Surfside.

In addition, HCPD is patrolling for looters and enforcing the no wake rule in the Socastee areas affected by the flooding left by Hurricane Matthew.
