CONWAY – Coastal Carolina likely will be without top running back De’Angelo Henderson Saturday against Central Connecticut State.

Coach Joe Moglia said Wednesday he does not expect the senior, who holds the NCAA record for most consecutive games with a touchdown, to play. Henderson suffered a shoulder injury in the Chanticleers 17-7 win over Gardner-Webb last weekend.

Backup running back Osharmar Abercrombie also is out with a knee injury. That means third-string running back Kenneth Daniels will start. The senior has played in all six games this year. He has 20 carries for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Manning native Ra’Quan Bennett also will get carries Saturday, but he has just seven rushes this year. The only other running back with game experience in 2016 is sophomore Isaac Martin, who has just three carries.

The injuries to Henderson and Abercrombie are just the latest blow to Coastal Carolina’s depth. The Chanticleers already are on their fourth-string quarterback and had to call on a former CCU baseball star for extra help at that position.
