The Southport Police Department was originally asking for the public’s assistance in locating Gabrielle Ryman.

However, a week after she vanished, the North Carolina Department of Public Safety issued a Silver Alert for her saying that she was “endangered.”

Gabrielle, 15, was last seen at her residence at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 415 West West Street in Southport.

The clothing Gabrielle was wearing is unknown, but she did take a toothbrush and makeup kit.

Gabrielle is described by authorities as a white female, with long brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5-feet, 7-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds, officials say.

Gabrielle had a GPS monitor, but turned it off and may be in the Long Beach Road area of Southport, Sgt. Kevin Long with the Southport Police Department told WECT-TV.

If officials find someone is harboring Ryman, they could face charges such as resisting, obstructing, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to WECT.

Ryman is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other form of cognitive impairment.
