Coroner says Conway man died from single gunshot wound inside a taxi van

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The Conway Police Department is investigating a shooting Monday morning that involved a taxi cab.

According to Lt. Selena Small, the shooting happened in the area of Dillon Street and Grainger Road.

Small said when officers arrived at the scene around 6:30 a.m., they found one person dead inside a taxi-van.

Horry County Coroner Tony Hendrick identified the victim as 54-year-old David John Bennett from Conway. According to Hendrick, Bennett died from a single gunshot wound to the chest while sitting behind the wheel of his taxi.

This is the second shooting incident in less that 6 hours in the city.  The first incident happened in the Wild Wing Plantation neighborhood around 1:30 a.m.
