CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – One of the men accused in the kidnapping and murder of Zach Malinowski is back in jail for another kidnapping and murder.

Lt. Raul Dennis with Horry County police confirms Javon Gibbs was arrested on a separate murder case in Horry County Wednesday.

Incident reports from Horry County police say officers and EMT responded to an attempted murder call on Sept. 27 at a home on Kimberly Drive in Conway. On arrival, officers say they saw HCFR and EMTs put the victim on a backboard so they could take him to the hospital.

Another victim told police that she was in her bedroom when she heard a gunshot and after she called out, an unknown suspect with a gun and a bandanna covering his face entered the bedroom. The suspect left, and the woman said she tried to hold pressure to the victim’s wound until EMT arrived.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said 22-year-old Laquan Johnson from Loris died at a local hospital around 3 p.m. on Sept. 27.

In the incident reports, officers say they observed a small bag of a green leafy substance and another bag containing what appeared to be a white powdery substance at the home.

J Reuben Long Detention Center online booking records indicate Gibbs was booked Wednesday at 2:41 p.m. and is currently charged with murder, kidnapping, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and trafficking in cocaine.

The Horry County Magistrate’s Office says a bond hearing has been scheduled for Friday morning at 9 a.m.
