Myrtle Beach police investigate after man found unresponsive in street Tuesday morning

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Incident reports from Myrtle Beach police say officers were called to a reported shooting Tuesday morning at 2:30 a.m. on Chester Street.

On arrival, police found the victim laying in the street unresponsive, the report says.

Investigators spoke to a witness who says she was in her house and heard people arguing outside before she heard gunshots and found the man laying in the street.

The incident report says when police talked to the victim later at the hospital, he said he was trying to buy marijuana when he heard a gun go off behind his head and he could not recall anything that happened after that.

Surveillance video from the Crepe Myrtle shows five men punching and kicking the victim.  The report says two of the suspects drove away after the assault and three left on foot.

Doctors say there were no entrance or exit wounds on the victim and they were unable to identify if the man’s injuries were from a graze, or blunt force trauma.

According to the police report, the victim had $30 taken from him.
