Update: Bond denied for woman in custody in connection to deadly shooting in Darlington County

DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – Darlington County Detention Center Judge LaCross denied bond on Sunday morning for Mary Denise Poston. She was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

Judge LaCross set the preliminary hearing for March 15th. Poston was also prequalified for a public defender.

Lt. Robert Kilgo says the shooting happened Friday evening at a home off Turnpike Road in Darlington County.

Darlington County Coroner, Todd Hardee, identified the man who died as 47-year-old Robert Earl Benson of Timmonsville.

Lt. Kilgo says Poston and Benson were believed to be living together at the time of the shooting.

Family members and close friends told News13 off camera that the relationship between Poston and Benson was toxic.

Neighbors in the area say they did not hear any gun shots before deputies arrived to the home.
