Another cold, damp and gloomy day is in store for the Eastern Carolinas Thursday. Temperatures will continue to drop tonight as a second round of rain approaches.
And on top of the cold start, showers will be widespread for the morning commute. Steadier rain will move in after midnight tonight with chances staying highest through the mid-morning. Rain chances will start to come down throughout the day Thursday with drier air arriving Thursday night. The cool down probably came as a shock to some as temperatures were sharply colder Wednesday compared to Tuesday. The cooler air arrived Tuesday night after a front moved through and continued to filter in all day.
Abundant sunshine returns Friday but temperatures will stay below average (which is about 70° this time of year) through next Tuesday.
